Multicultural Center Kitchen

Statement

The Multicultural Center is designed to meet the needs of diverse students and student organizations as they seek to build culture and understanding.

The University has an exclusive contract with a food service vendor for the provision of retail and catered events. In recognition and respect for this exclusive contract, food and beverages prepared in the Multicultural Center Kitchen are allowed for the sole purpose of cultural diversity (free of charge) and may only be served in either the Multicultural Center or the International Student Association Office space.

Procedures

  • Requests for use of the Multicultural Center Kitchen shall be made through the Center staff.
  • All concerns about liability or food safety shall be referred to the Multicultural Center staff, who shall have responsibility for educating users about food safety policies.
  • Food prepared to serve the general public is subject to ServSafe Food Protection Standards and thus requires a ServSafe certified staff member be present to oversee the safe handling and preparation of food ingredients and items.
  • Licenses and procedures associated with the operation of the Multicultural Center Kitchen shall be shared with and reviewed by the Director, Centennial Student Union and Student Activities on a periodic basis.
  • Misuse of the kitchen in the Multicultural Center may result in loss of space. All concerns resulting from misuse of the space shall be reported to the Director, Centennial Student Union and Student Activities.

Rationale

The Multicultural Center Kitchen shall serve diverse students and student organizations in their mission of celebrating diversity on campus, while adhering to existing University and CSU policies/procedures in regards to food-related activities.
