Gender-Inclusive Housing

live where you can be you

Our Gender-Inclusive Housing option allows students of all gender identities to live together in a supportive and affirming community. It’s designed for LGBTQ+ students and allies who want a space that celebrates inclusion and respect.

When completing your housing application, simply check the box for Gender-Inclusive Housing to opt in. You’ll then select the gender identity that best fits you:

  • Male – for students who identify as male/masculine (including trans men).

  • Female – for students who identify as female/feminine (including trans women).

  • Non-binary – for students who identify outside the male/female binary (for example, gender-fluid).

Room assignments are based on your preferences and comfort — for example, students who select non-binary may room with anyone who selects male, female, or non-binary.

where you'll live

  • Crawford B3 – Gender-Inclusive Floor:

    • Live in a Standard room with students of the same gender identity.

    • This floor welcomes multiple gender identities.

    • Community bathroom with floor-to-ceiling lockable stalls ensures full privacy, even if someone of a different gender is nearby. Check out the community bathroom on B3.

  • Suites & Apartments:

    • A limited number of suites and apartments are also designated for Gender-Inclusive Housing.

    • Each unit houses students with compatible gender identities.

Roommate Matching:

  • Students who opt in will be placed with or can choose roommates who also opted in, giving you the chance to live with peers who share your preference for a gender-inclusive space.

Trans* Inclusive Statement

Residential Life is committed to providing a safe and comfortable living environment for all students, including those who gender identity and/or expression differs from the sex assigned to them at birth. We encourage Trans* students looking for a supportive living arrangement in the residence halls and apartments to opt into gender-inclusive housing when they complete the housing application.

Residential Life respects and affirms a student's gender identity and/or expression, prioritizes our student's physical and emotional safety, and will find the best match between the student's needs and the options available. Students seeking additional support in the University environment are encouraged to contact the University's LGBT Center (194 Centennial Student Union or 507-389-5131).
