We are committed to housing all incoming first-year students, however, the earlier you reserve housing, the more priority you’ll have choosing your space.
Step 1: Apply for Admission
Only students who have been admitted to the University may apply for housing. University Admissions begins admitting students mid-June for the next academic year.
Step 2: Confirm Enrollment
Enrollment Confirmation is the process that confirms a student's intent to enroll at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Confirming enrollment does not commit a student to attending. Students who plan to live on campus must confirm enrollment before they are allowed to apply for housing.
Step 3: Housing Application
Using your StarID/password, complete the Housing Application. Login to E-services and select "Housing & Dining" in the left menu bar. This will automatically redirect you to the Housing & Dining Portal where you can begin the application. Make sure you select the correct application (20-21 Academic Year or Spring-Only Housing).
Step 4: Housing Contract
Housing Contracts are signed within the Housing & Dining Portal. Students under age 18 need to have a parent/guardian sign the contract, in addition to the student. Upload a signed copy of the contract into your housing application. Housing Contracts are in effect for one academic year. Once signed, the contract is legal and binding and cannot be broken (except in very specific circumstances). The terms and conditions should be understood prior to signing.
Step 5: Prepayment
A $250 prepayment is required to complete a student's reservation. Unlike a deposit, a student's prepayment is applied to the student's first semester room charges. We accept credit/debit, check, or cash. A reduced prepayment may be available if you qualify.
