Spring Closing

Residence communities close at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9.


Residents should complete the following prior to departing campus.

  1. Attend closing floor meeting. Each CA will schedule this to take place April 14-18. Check your floor bulletin board for details.
  2. Schedule a time to check-out with your CA. At check-out, the room should be completely empty of your belongings and the room should be clean (if your room is dirty, you will be charged for it).
    • Beds do not have to be lofted. Make sure it's not blocking the window.
    • Clean the following items to avoid charges:
      • Clean your sink, medicine cabinet, & mirror.
      • Wipe down your desk, dresser, wardrobe, & upper shelf. 
      • Clean dirty areas on walls, remove hooks, and adhesive.
      • Sweep the floor, including under furniture.
      • Un-stack dressers.
    • Cleaning supplies can be checked out at the Front Desk/Stadium Heights Office.
    • If your CA observes damage to items in your room, they will provide you with an estimate of charges.
  3. Return to-go containers back to the dining center for a $5 refund. During finals week, you can return containers to Chet's Place and 1872 Grill in addition to the University Dining Center.
  4. Update permanent mailing address in E-services (if living on main campus) so that mail is forwarded to the proper address. If living at Stadium Heights, complete a mail forwarding request with the United States Postal Service.
    • Packages delivered to main campus will be forwarded (to the E-services address) if they were shipped via USPS. All other carriers are returned to sender.
  5. On day of departure,
    • Attend your checkout appointment with your CA (be on time!)
    • Check your mailbox one last time for mail and packages.
    • If you brought a bike to campus, take it home.

Friday, May 9 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday, May 10 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday, May 11 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Dumpsters will arrive at specific locations (see below) on Friday, April 18. Use a cart to take your large trash items to one of these locations. Stadium Heights residents should utilize the dumpster closest to their building.

May 5-9, residents may load their vehicles in limited curbside parking. View parking maps and locations below. Light, Dark Green, & Stripe parking will stop being enforced on Thursday, May 8. Turn your hazard lights on when loading in the curbside zone.

  • JULIA SEARS: You may Park on both sides of the West Road curb (in front of Julia Sears). Do not park in crosswalks or in front of the bus shelter.
  • CRAWFORD: Park along the east side of C Hall in Lot 14A. Parking in gold stalls will result in a ticket.
  • MCELROY: Park in Lot 15 stalls in front of McElroy, except for stalls designated for facility and accessible vehicle parking. Park along west side curb in front of F/G Halls.
  • PRESKA: Park in Lot 15 stalls in front of McElroy, except for stalls designated for facility and accessible vehicle parking. Park along west side curb of North Ellis Avenue along the grassy area from Lot 15 to Maywood.

 

 

 


A request to stay past 7 p.m. on Friday, May 9 requires a documented (often University-related) reason. Community Advisors, students moving to Summer School Housing, and athletes do not need to submit requests (these will be handled internally). Late stay requests submitted after 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6 will acquire a $50 late fee. The form opens at 9 a.m. on April 9th in the Housing & Dining Portal.

To submit a request, login to the Housing & Dining Portal. Click FORMS and select the Late Stay Spring 2025 form. You will receive an email response within three business days.

Students approved for a late stay will only be approved to stay until 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 11. If you need to stay on campus past this time, you should register for Interim 1 Housing.

Carts are available for checkout at Front Desks on main campus. Make sure you return your cart promptly after use so that other students can use it.

Carts awill be available in the lobbies of Crawford, McElroy, Julia Sears, and Preska starting Thursday, May 1. Before taking one, check it out with the Front Desk Assistant.

Non-perishable food donations are accepted at the Maverick Food Pantry (142 Carkoski Commons) during the following dates/times:

  • Mondays: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 5-7 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Fridays: 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Residents may discard of unwanted electrical appliances in the designated locations beginning Friday, April 18. Do not put appliances in the dumpster. View list of accepted items and disposal locations below.

All Dining Dollars expire on Friday, May 9. If you have many to use, consider purchasing items in bulk from University Dining. See information below.
