Residence Communities open on Friday, January 9 for the start of spring semester.

Groups

If you are a student affiliated with a group, do not submit an individual early arrival request. Your coach/instructor/director will provide information to us.

Arrive Friday, January 2 - Thursday, January 8, 2026

  • Students will move directly into their spring room assignment.
    • Limited Residential Life services available during this time.
  • You will be billed $29 per day/per student for arrival prior to January 9, 2026.
    • Residence Communities open on January 9, 2026.
  • Email roster to Nicole Faust at least one week prior to arrival date. 
    • Include: names, techIDs, date, and indicate if the student or department is responsible for early arrival fees. 
  • If you require food service for students, contact University Dining Services.
    • Meal plans begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026

International Students

Arrive Friday, January 2 - Thursday, January 8, 2026

  • Move directly into your spring room assignment.
    • Limited Residential Life services available during this time. 
  • You will be billed $29 per day for arrival prior to January 9, 2026.
  • Submit an Early Arrival Request in the Housing and Dining Portal after you have been assigned to a room (beginning December 18).
    • Only approved students will be allowed to move in early.
  • Check-in at the Residential Life Office, 111 Carkoski Commons, January 2-8, 2026.
    • Check-in between 9 a.m. and midnight.
    • Students arriving after midnight will need to make hotel arrangements until the next day.
  • After you submit a request, you can expect to receive an email response within three business days.

    • If you cancel your housing, your early arrival request will also be cancelled.
    • Email questions to Nicole Faust.
  • We will begin accepting packages for spring residents on Monday, December 22. If you are having items shipped to you, make sure they arrive on or after this date.
  • Meals will be provided to early arriving international students by the Kearney International Center. A schedule will be shared at check-in.

Students

We recognize that some students may have circumstances that require them to arrive on campus sooner than Move-In (such as on-campus employment or family reasons).

Process

  • Students should submit an Early Arrival Request in the Housing & Dining Portal beginning Monday, December 1 in the Housing & Dining Portal.
  • Students should expect an email response within three business days. If approved, check-in instructions will be provided. 

Dates

Students will specify the date they would like to move-in on their Early Arrival Request. The first day we will allow early arrivals to move-in is Friday, January 2.

Cost

Students who arrive prior to January 9 are billed $29 per night to their University E-services account (meals are not included). The first meal offered by the student's meal plan is lunch on Friday, January 9.
