Questions about the individual…

  • Why did you choose to become a teacher?
  • What quality or qualities do you have that would enhance our teaching staff?
  • What contributions can you make to our school?
  • How do you evaluate your own teaching performance?
  • What kind of students do you like to work with? What type of students could you teach most effectively?
  • What kind of teachers would you prefer to work with? Why?
  • Give me one or two examples of things that you discovered about yourself while student teaching that you would like to improve.
  • What needs and/or expectations do you have of the school administration?
  • What three words would students use to describe your teaching strategies?
  • When you think about your students, in what major ways do you most want to influence their lives?

  • State your approach/What is your educational philosophy?
  • What is your philosophy on classroom management?
  • How would you implement an equal opportunities policy in your classroom?
  • How would you plan to integrate your class with the school as a whole?
  • How do you help students experience success?
  • How do you reinforce self-esteem in students?
  • Describe your teaching style and how you accommodate the different learning styles of the students in your classes.
  • What procedures do you use to evaluate student progress besides using tests?
  • How would you challenge the slow learner and the advanced learner within the same class?
  • Who should be responsible for discipline in a school? Why?
  • What do you feel is the most effective way to communicate with parents? Describe how you have used this/these technique(s).
  • What would you include in your Open House presentations to parents?
  • Some people say you should demand respect. Do you agree or disagree?
  • If a student came to you and said, "None of the other students like me," what would you tell him/her?

  • What do you see as the advantages and disadvantages of working in a school of this type?
