Tuition Rates and Fees

Tuition and fees are approved annually by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees.

Undergraduate tuition rates have been frozen for FY2024 and FY2025 per the Minnesota legislature and governor.

Tuition rates for Fall 2025 - Summer 2026 will be finalized at a later date, subject to legislative action and Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MinnState) Board of Trustees approval. It is anticipated that this information will be available by early July.

Residents of South Dakota who first are admitted for Fall of 2024 or earlier will maintain reciprocity rates.
Residents of South Dakota beginning Spring 2025 and beyond will be considered non-residents for tuition purposes.

100% Online Learners

Non-resident undergraduate students enrolled exclusively in online courses at Minnesota State Mankato for an academic term may qualify for tuition charges equal to current Minnesota Resident rate.

Legacy Students

Children of Minnesota State Mankato alumni who live outside of Minnesota will be offered the same tuition rate as Minnesota resident students to attend the University. This discounted rate does not apply to students who qualify for reciprocity tuition rates or students enrolled in programs that charge the same tuition rate for all students regardless of residency.

Senior Citizens

Senior Citizens are Minnesota residents that are age 62 or older.

Talent Based Recruitment

Non-resident students who are actively recruited to attend Minnesota State Mankato on the basis of special skills, talents or abilities may be offered in-state tuition to attend the University. University Admissions coordinates the granting of in-state tuition with recruiting departments (Intercollegiate Athletics, Theatre, Music, Speech, etc.).

Student Fees

Student fees are charged for Student Activities, Student Government, Centennial Student Union building, Technology Services, Health Services and Campus Recreation facilities.

Special Course Fees

There are additional costs for personal property or services provided to students enrolled in certain courses. Examples include music, art, theatre, aviation, nursing, human performance, mechanical engineering, and business courses. The Notes section of the course description will indicate whether a special course fee will be charged.

Academic Year 2024-2025

Summer Term 2025

Additional financial aid eligibility is determined for summer term enrollment. The financial aid budget for summer term is based on a COA estimate of direct and indirect school-related costs during that 10-week period, adjusted for enrollment level, course lengths, and other allowable costs.
