Global Promise Foundation Study Abroad Scholarship (up to $1000)

The Global Promise Foundation is a Minnesota non-profit organization that was formed in 2004. The Global Promise mission is to help people of the world by offering gifts of mercy to cover basic needs and to foster opportunities for education and economic development.
The scholarships are available to students majoring in any of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences programs. Application opens Oct. 1. and closes Oct. 31

Gender and Land: Activism in Costa Rica
Students from any department or program would be interested in this one credit, interdisciplinary course which focuses on Costa Rican leadership, activism, culture, and politics. Students will travel to Costa Rica to learn about the intersections between land, migration, women’s activism, and ecotourism all within the context of Costa Rican politics and history. Students will meet with politicians and officials from Costa Rican government ministries, as well as nonprofit groups that support migrant women and those that empower and educate young girls. In addition, students will learn about the benefits and critiques of ecotourism while hiking in the rainforest, swimming in hot springs, and experiencing the Atlantic coast.

Criminal Justice Study Tour: Belfast and Dublin

We invite you to travel to the Island of Ireland! All majors welcome.
We’re going to Belfast, Northern Ireland and Dublin, Ireland over winter break. We will learn about these international cities’ criminal justice systems and their responses to terrorism. We offer you this study tour as a way to gain personal growth through international travel. It is possible for students from other institutions to travel with us, so if you have a friend who is attending another college or university, think about talking to them about this amazing experiential learning adventure to Belfast and Dublin! We hope you come with us!
Estimated Program Cost: $3,476
NO PREREQUISITES REQUIRED. Earn 3 or 6 spring semester credits for this study tour and completing coursework in either Comparative Criminal Justice Systems or International Response to Terrorism or both. These courses are offered as either LAWE or POLS courses, and only study tour participants are eligible to register for them. A student need not be majoring in political science or law enforcement; all majors are welcome to participate! No prior coursework required.
