Registration and Common Holds

PSEO students must complete orientation before they are able to register for their first semester PSEO courses. The PSEO Office monitors student's progress through orientation and will reach out to students when they are able to register. Our office will reach out to you with more specific registration days at a later time.

In most cases, you should be able to complete course registration at home. Orientation provides instructions on how to register. We also provide guides here.

Registration Tips

  • If you would like to register for an English or Math course, and do not have a placement exam on file, please email pseo@mnsu.edu with the course you'd like to register for. You can find placement requirements on the Testing Center website.
  • Talk with your high school guidance counselor to understand any high school graduation requirements you have.
  • Transition into university courses. PSEO students can struggle with the increased rigor of university courses. Students can find success when they register for 1-3 courses their first semester and increase credits in future semesters.
  • Register for courses that will help you save time and money once you become a full-time tuition paying student.
  • What is your preferred schedule? Do you work in the afternoon? Are you in high school activities? Are you not a morning person? University courses can be very flexible in the times they are offered. Register for courses that fit your schedule as much as you can.
  • If you have taken courses through other institutions, how will they transfer to Minnesota State Mankato? You can answer that question by visiting www.transferology.com.
  • Check out the course schedule at www.mnsu.edu/eservices/
  • Still have questions? Check out our manuals and walkthrough guides page.

Registration Holds

Most of the time students should be able to register without any issues. There are some instances where students may run into registration errors. Below are the most common registration errors that a student will receive. If you receive a registration error please contact the PSEO Office immediately, most can be addressed quickly. You can find our contact information on the right side of this page.

PSEO Hold

The PSEO hold is normally placed on student accounts that have applied to become traditional PSEO students. For the most part, concurrent enrollment students should not experience this hold. If you are being prevented from registering because of the PSEO hold please contact the PSEO Office. In most cases we are able to override the hold immediately and allow you to register.

If you're trying to contact after normal business hours, please email pseo@mnsu.edu.

Admissions Hold

Similar to the PSEO hold, this should not be a hold that most students encounter. The Admissions Hold is placed on students account when they are admitted but is activated on 4/1 of your graduation year.

You may experience this hold if you are registering for a course that starts in the fourth quarter or if there was an error when the hold was placed on your account.

Contact the PSEO Office immediately, we can override the hold quickly to allow you to register.

Orientation Hold

The orientation hold is pretty common. Anyone that has been admitted to Minnesota State Mankato as a first year student will have this hold placed on their account. The PSEO Office regularly checks for students that might have this hold on their account. Depending on when your first year application is accepted by Admissions, we may miss overriding this hold.

Please note that this hold does not pertain to any orientation you may have completed through the PSEO Office.

If you encounter this hold, please contact the PSEO Office immediately. We can override the hold and allow you to register quickly.

Academic Warning

PSEO students are held to the same academic standards that tuition paying students are. All students enrolled at Minnesota State Mankato are required to meet the Academic Standing Policy.

Currently, PSEO students are given one semester to meet these standards. If a PSEO student falls below the completion rate (66.67%) OR minimum GPA (1.7) they will be placed on Academic Warning and not allowed to enroll in PSEO, including concurrent enrollment, courses with Minnesota State Mankato.

We have adapted the PSEO policy to help ensure students remain in good academic standing with other institutions. If after two semesters a student does not meet both standards they will be suspended from campus. Academic suspension appears on a student's university transcript. Since students will not be eligible to enroll after one semester of not meeting standards, PSEO students are not able to be suspended from campus.

If you see this hold on your account you will not be eligible to enroll in courses. If you beleive this hold was placed by mistake, please contact the PSEO Office.

Cohort Code

This is a very common registration error that PSEO students receive. Every concurrent enrollment course is assigned to a specific cohort, typically, the high school that you are part of. This assures that only students at your high school are eligible to enroll.

If you receive this registration error please check to see if you've been admitted to campus. You can check your admission status by reaching out to your high school counselor or course instructor. You can also check your admission status by logging into our eApplication. Once you've been admitted you will be added to your cohort and should be able to register for your course(s).

Sometimes students are accidentaly added to the wrong cohort. You will know this happens if you receive an error message that you're part of a different cohort than your high school. For example, if you're a student at St. James High School but you have been added to the Eagan High School cohort.

If you've been added to the wrong cohort, please contact the PSEO Office immediately. We can make the change quickly and allow you to register.
