Exploring Health Careers Learning Community

If you’re interested in working in the healthcare field but haven’t quite narrowed it down to a specific profession or want to learn about multiple options, the Exploring Health Careers Learning Community is for you! This learning community is designed to help students with a general interest in the allied health profession to determine their academic and professional goals. You’ll develop strong connections to faculty and staff in the College of Allied Health and Nursing who will guide you through the wide variety of careers in healthcare. The courses offered fulfill requirements for many health related majors as well as University General Education requirements.

Fall Semester Courses

(Enrollment in all learning community sections of courses is required unless college credit is already earned for the course, or an academic advisor recommends changes):

FYEX 100: First Year Seminar
BIOL 201: Anatomy & Physiology I OR
BIOL 100: Our Natural World OR
FCS 140: Intro to Nutrition OR

SPRING Semester Courses

(Enrollment in all learning community sections of courses is required unless college credit is already earned for the course, or an academic advisor recommends changes):

CAHN 101W: Health Care Professions
HLTH 101: Health and the Environment
PSYC 101: Introduction to Psychological Science

Where you'll live

We encourage you to live on campus with others in your Learning Community because that's where much of your networking takes place, but it is not required.

You can choose to live:

In designated Learning Community housing
- Renovated double rooms located in Crawford A, B, D, McElroy E, F, H or Preska I Halls. Renovated rooms have in-room air-conditioning and share a community bathroom with the floor.
- You can choose to have another Learning Community student assigned as your roommate, or you may choose your own.
Other on-campus housing
- It will be your responsibility to choose a housing location after the time-slot provided to you by Residential Life.
