Remembrances
Mary Topp (1946-2026)
"Mary was an educator and former Lifelong Learners member. After her retirement she worked as a literacy coach at Kennedy School, Mankato. She enjoyed traveling and was a deacon for her church. “Mary will long be remembered for her roles as reading educator, world traveler, church Deacon and friend, and for her interest in the arts onstage and in her home where her collection of world art was on display. I join many others in mourning Mary's loss.”

“Mary was a member of P.E.O. Chapter U, Mankato…She was an active member, always willing to serve…Mary was always eager to learn more about the world around her and to understand the issues of people. Her thirst for knowledge and understanding, her love for adventurous travel, and the sharing of a good book are some of the many gifts Mary left us…We think she may never have been aware of the extent of her remarkable gift for friendship and she was surprised and grateful and most especially honored by the many friends who visited her during those final months and weeks. “

Pamela Blair (1958-2026)
"Pam trained me in at Lifelong Learners. She was smart, kind, and funny—everything you could hope for in a trainer/mentor. Whenever I worried about remembering everything after she retired, she would smile and reassure me with the fact that she had left little "breadcrumbs" all around the office that would help me figure things out. That was who she was: thoughtful, encouraging, and willing to go the extra mile to help others succeed. She had such an easy going way about her.
Her knowledge and expertise were invaluable, but with it she also brought an abundance of warmth and humor. I admired Pam and was deeply saddened to hear of her passing, especially knowing the loss her family and loved ones are feeling. She was a great gal who will be missed, but I have no doubt that her light, her lessons, and those little breadcrumbs she left behind will remain with all who knew her. I feel fortunate for having been one of them.”

“I knew Pam through her work for Mankato Area Lifelong Learners. She was a truly wonderful person. She was a talented administrator for the organization, and she treated everyone with respect. The job of administering Lifelong Learners was/is not an easy one. Somehow, she always knew how to get things done when maneuvering the MSU bureaucracy. The organization never could have survived without her. She will be missed by all who knew her.”
