Transfer Student Scholarships

Academic Scholarships for Transfer Students Awarded in Fall Term

To be considered, you must have a minimum cumulative transfer GPA of 3.0 and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.

  • Transfer Student Maverick Scholarship Awards. This scholarship, based on academic achievement and non-renewable, is given to selected transfer students for their first year on campus. Transfer scholarship applications open on March 15, 2024. The application deadline for fall admitted transfer students is June 1, 2024.
  • North Star Promise Scholarship. Minnesota residents with a family-adjusted gross income below $80,000 would be eligible for the North Star Promise Scholarship, which will cover tuition and fees for residents who attend Minnesota State University, Mankato, beginning Fall 2024 - awards cover 100% of remaining tuition and fees after other grants and scholarships are deducted.

    Requirements: Apply for admission to Minnesota State Mankato and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship. Two scholarships of $500 each will be awarded for one year. Students must be a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at a two-year college. Transfer scholarship applications open on March 15, 2024. The application deadline is June 1, 2024.
  • Workforce Development Scholarship. Previous recipients of a Workforce Development Scholarship at a Minnesota State community college may now apply for an additional year of $2,500 funding at Minnesota State University, Mankato. To be eligible, students must provide proof that they received a Workforce Development Scholarship from a Minnesota State college, graduated from the college with a two-year associate's degree, and transferred into a corresponding bachelor's program. In addition, students must enroll and remain enrolled in an eligible workforce development program in one of the following academic disciplines: Health Care, Early Childhood Education, Information Technology, Transportation, Advanced Manufacturing, and Agriculture. Finally, students must maintain 9 credits per term, a 2.0 GPA, and be a Minnesota resident. Preference for students with financial need but not required.

Departments and Colleges

Minnesota State Mankato offers many scholarships through individual departments, colleges, and programs.

ROTC Scholarships

Open to incoming and current students, the United States Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps scholarships offer to cover 100 percent college tuition, educational fees, and a designated book allowance.

Athletic awards

Minnesota State Mankato participates in all funding opportunities available to NCAA Division II institutions (Division I for Men's and Women's Hockey). Prospective student-athletes should visit the Mavericks Athletics website and contact the head coach of their individual sport for more information.

In-state Tuition

If you meet certain requirements, non-Minnesota residents may be eligible for in-state tuition rates. (This does not include students in the reciprocity states of North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin or students in programs with one tuition rate for all students regardless of residency.)

In-state Tuition Requirements for Transfer Students

Students transferring to Minnesota State Mankato with 24 or more college-level, transferrable credits and a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher automatically qualify for the in-state tuition scholarship.

Legacy In-state Tuition

A student may qualify for in-state tuition if one or both parents graduated from Minnesota State Mankato. The application is available for the Legacy In-state Tuition Scholarship.
