New Faculty Orientation and Cohort

New to the University? Let us help you settle in.

The New Faculty Cohort supports you through your first year at the University, offers ideas for teaching and productivity, and helps you build a social and professional network within the institution.

New Faculty Orientation

The goal of this workshop is to welcome new faculty to campus and help them feel prepared for their first week in the classroom. By the end of the day-long workshop, first year faculty should be able to complete the following tasks:

  • Write a course syllabus and schedule
  • Develop ideas for low and high stakes learning assessments
  • Understand the basic features of the D2L Brightspace LMS
  • Implement D2L Brightspace components that are essential to the function of their course in weeks 1-5

New Faculty Cohort

Keep talking about teaching throughout your first year. The CETL New Faculty Cohort will support faculty through email about university policies, procedures, culture, and teaching. You will build your support network with other new faculty through 6 monthly meetings. By the end of the academic year, you will able to identify important services for teaching and advising students, develop your instructional design competence, and plan for professional success in teaching, scholarship, and service.
