About the Conference
For 50 years, Minnesota State University, Mankato has been home to one of the nation’s most impactful student leadership gatherings, and the only Pan African Conference of its kind in the country.
The Dr. Michael T. Fagin Pan African Student Leadership Conference has united generations of scholars, students, and community leaders under one purpose: to inspire leadership, cultivate understanding, and advance meaningful change.
Originally named The Pan African Student Leadership Conference, the event was later renamed by President Richard Davenport to honor Dr. Michael T. Fagin, one of its founding visionaries whose dedication to education and empowerment helped shape the heart of this university.
Alongside co-founder Mahmoud El-Kati, a distinguished scholar, teacher, and thought leader whose influence continues to inspire generations, the two laid the foundation for a transformative movement that celebrates leadership, scholarship, and community. Their combined vision made the conference not just an event, but a living legacy that continues to transform lives today.
