Maverick Success Program

The Maverick Success Program (MSP) is an intentional advising program for select admitted students that provides individualized academic support. This program is tailored to provide comprehensive assistance and guidance, ensuring that every student has the resources and support needed to thrive during their first year at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Students are required to meet regularly with an assigned academic advisor during their first two semesters. MSP advisors help students develop and implement strategies for academic success, create a plan of study, receive one-on-one assistance with class registration, and successfully acclimate to Minnesota State Mankato.

Personalized Advising

Each student is assigned an advisor who guides them through the challenges of their first year. Advisors offer academic advice, emotional support, and practical tips to navigate the transition to college life.

Academic Resources

Access to a rich repository of academic resources, including tutoring services, MavPASS, and workshops. These resources are curated to address common challenges faced by first-year students, fostering a positive and conducive learning environment.

Goal Setting and Planning

The program assists students in setting realistic academic and personal goals. Through regular check-ins and goal-setting sessions, students can track their progress and stay motivated throughout the academic year.

Workshops and Seminars

Please respond to the Admissions email with confirmation of your future attendance and return a signed copy of the MSP contract (in the same email). You’ll receive additional information via email after you’ve registered for a new student campus orientation session. Campus orientation information is available here.
