What is the MRVWP Summer Institute?
Aligned with the National Writing Project, the Minnesota River Valley Writing Project Summer Institute is an opportunity for educators to become teacher-leaders through professional development designed by teachers for teachers. 
 
Hosted by the English Department, the Summer Institute has three key goals for educators:
  1. Write: Participate in a writing group with colleagues
  2. Practice: Share innovative lesson plans and learn from peers
  3. Explore: Choose an area of research and join a relevant book discussion 
Important Dates:
  • June 22, 2026: In-person launch date (Minnesota State University, Mankato)       
    • 9:00 am - 12:00 pm: Overview of the course
    • 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm: Attend MRVWP Launch Event to hear Dr. Nicole Mirra (registration for event included in Summer Institute fee)
  • June 29, 2026 through July 31, 2026 - Asynchronous professional development, engaging with peers around the 3 key course goals
  • July 27, 2026 - In-person final celebration (Minnesota State University, Mankato)
