Movie Night “Red Flag Bingo”

“I don’t have the strength to stay away from you anymore."– Edward Cullen, Twilight (2008).

Sounds romantic? Or sounds like a red flag?

Movie Night: Red Flag Bingo is hosted as a part of Domestic Violence Prevention & Awareness Month, and addresses the depiction of unhealthy and abusive behaviors within pop culture context. Twilight is used as a familiar example; throughout the film screening, our student leaders will identify where behaviors such as stalking, guilting, grooming, and jealousy are occurring. This is a way to help students within our campus community name harmful behaviors, and compare those to what a healthy relationship should genuinely look and feel like.

To facilitate learning, we have created an environment of friendly competition rather than just consumption. Each participant will receive a Bingo card at the start of the movie; the first four participants to get Bingo will receive prizes at the end of the film.

Free resources and food will also be provided by PEACE and VARP.

This event is tailored towards students, but anyone on our campus may attend.
