Join us for learning and listening with our Spring 2023 Elder-in-Residence, Mrs. Audrey Thayer!

Audrey Thayer (Anishinaabe) is an enrolled member of the White Earth Tribal Nation will be the 2022-2023 elder-in residence! She has a long history of work, huge family, committed to our seven generation teachings. Audrey currently teaches at the Leech Lake Tribal College in the Indigenous Leadership Program, has raised 8 children, a basketful of great and grandchildren. At age 71, Audrey is active with her traditional spiritual walk and sits on the Bemidji City Council. The first Indigenous-American woman to serve on the city council. Just recently, she has retired her jingle dancing to beadwork, and quilting for quiet moments. She will graduate with her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Organization, May 2023 from University of St. Thomas.
