As a Graduate Assistant, my responsibilities include leading the development and execution of social media, creating and editing content for social media, CAN, and MAVERICK INSIDER. I also assist with website maintenance and troubleshooting, providing photography and videography for events, overseeing the digital signage system, participating in recruitment events, and mentoring a team of interns and student staff.

PAST EXPERIENCES

During my undergraduate studies at MSU where I earned by undergrad degree, I served as a Team Leader at the Kearney International Center. I supported international students and led a team of ambassadors. These experiences laid a strong foundation for my current role as a Graduate Assistant and continue to shape the way I approach leadership and student support.

WHAT YOU LIKE ABOUT YOUR GA POSITION:

One of my favorite parts of my GA position is participating in resource fairs, where I get to meet prospective students and their families and witness their excitement as they prepare to begin a new chapter. I also enjoy being involved in various campus events and working closely with my team to ensure everyone fulfills their responsibilities. It’s rewarding to see how, together, we contribute to creating a welcoming and engaging environment for all students

GETTING TO KNOW ALEX

In my free time:  I enjoy rock climbing, either here on campus or at climbing gyms in the Cities. I also love exploring new hiking spots and spending quality time with my cat, Oreo.

ALEX’S FUN FAST FIVE QUIZ

Three words that best describe you? Adventurous, Friendly, Go-Getter

Three things that can always be found in your refrigerator? You can always find energy drinks, Go-Gurts, and milk in my fridge—fuel for my day, a nostalgic snack, and a must-have for cereal emergencies!

Name three people, living or dead, you would like to invite for dinner. I’d invite Alex Honnold to hear about his fearless climbs and minimalist lifestyle, Michelle Obama for her wisdom, strength, and probably great stories from the White House, and Tony Hawk because who wouldn’t want a legend at the table, and maybe a skateboarding demo after dinner?

What is something people would be surprised to know about you? People are usually surprised to learn that I speak three languages (English, French and Arabic) and have traveled to several countries. I love exploring new cultures!

What superpower would you like to have? Why? If I could have any superpower, I’d choose the ability to read minds. As a people-pleaser, I often worry about how others are feeling and whether I’m meeting their expectations. Being able to understand what someone’s thinking would help me better support them, and offer the best version of myself in return.
