With more than 100,000 innocent people incarcerated in the U.S., The Great North Innocence Project (GNIP) frees individuals convicted of crimes they did not commit and prevents wrongful convictions through investigation and litigation, education and outreach, and advocacy. In this presentation Jack Reuler draws on real cases to explain the primary causes and consequences of wrongful convictions as well as how to remedy them. Jack will also discuss how GNIP works to proactively prevent wrongful convictions through outreach, education, and legislative advocacy and how community members can partner with GNIP to improve the criminal legal system.
