In the UK, “panto” (short for pantomime) is a beloved holiday tradition — family-friendly musical comedies (not silent!) that mix fairy tales, slapstick, outrageous costumes, and lots of audience participation. This spoof affectionately parodies that tradition while standing on its own as pure comic genius. The Olivier Award–winning Mischief Theatre troupe brings their trademark brand of chaotic comedy to the holidays. We’ll first watch Peter Pan, staged as though by a hapless amateur drama group, the Cornley Drama Society, whose production quickly unravels. Technical malfunctions, missed cues, and physical gags pile up into delightfully absurd mayhem. Filmed before a live audience and narrated by David Suchet, this one-hour special is fastpaced, slapstick fun that both lampoons and celebrates live theatre.
