Many of Minnesota State University-Mankato's programs are certified, under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), to provide education and training to eligible participants.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is the foundation of Minnesota State’s workforce development initiatives and job-training programs for adults and youth.

WIOA gives government, nonprofit, education, and industry partners greater flexibility to work together. The result is career training programs that give workers the skills they need to get good jobs at family-sustaining wages and give employers the qualified workers they need to stay competitive.

WIOA grants are generally awarded to:

  • Laid-off workers (Dislocated Workers)

  • Veterans

  • Persons with Disabilities

  • Youth
  • New entrants to the workforce and more!
