Dawson Yost, CSET Transfer LCC AE/MFE
I am so excited to meet you! I will be a resource for you as you navigate through your first year here at Minnesota State University, Mankato! Being involved with the Transfer Learning Community will help you academically as well as socially, so utilize me and your peers as much as you can!
Major: Manufacturing Engineering Technology
Year in School: Senior
Hometown: I live in New Ulm, MN
Favorite Food: Hamburger Steak w/ Fried Egg
Advice for LC Students: Stay focused, stay disciplined, and keep pursuing your goals with passion.Smartest thing you ever did/Best decision you ever made: Getting in shape. When I was 16 I was massively overweight and consistently made poor decisions in regards to my health and life. In the pursuit to lose that weight, I improved myself in many ways beyond my weight; I ate cleaner, I studied smarter, I engaged in more meaningful activities, I connected with people more closely, etc. At 26 years old I'm married, I've won a 5k, got third in Mankato Ninja Warrior, made life-long friends, and have yet to fall off the dean's list. The pursuit to get in shape gave me so much more than that goal alone.
Favorite thing to do outside school/work: If I'm not depleted from school & work, I enjoy running, biking, gaming, and tinkering with computers.
One unique thing about you: I've been married since I was 19 years old.
Favorite thing about MSU: The facilities available to students are pretty incredible if you know what to look for. I especially love how cheap the bullpen is to bowl at.
Campus Involvement: Work and school have kept me very busy, but I've spent a bit of time with the "Mavbotics" team and tried to restart the MSU chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers my freshman year.
Favorite thing to do in Mankato: Mankato has some of the best running/biking trails I've ever seen, and many beautiful parks.
Anything else we should know about you/Fun Facts: I meet all but one of MSU's criteria for nontraditional students; I'm not a parent.
