Sept. 15: Minnesota State Mankato’s Women’s Center to Host Screening of Documentary Film ‘No Country for Mothers’

Mankato, Minn. – In support of student parents at Minnesota State University, Mankato and National Student Parent Month, the MSU Women’s Center is hosting a screening of the 2026 documentary film, “No Country for Mothers,” from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15 in the University’s Centennial Student Union, Room 253.

The screening is free and open to the public, and children are welcome to attend. A discussion will follow the 75-minute film. Free parking will be available in the visitors pay lot (lot 4) across from Centennial Student Union.

Participants can pre-register at https://mobilize.us/momsfirst/event/992167. Donations of formula or diaper and wipes are welcome but not required. Those items will be shared with the local nonprofit organization Feeding Every Baby, Inc.

According to the website Moms First, “‘No Country for Mothers’ explores the culture wars surrounding American motherhood and why both the ‘girl boss’ and ‘trad wife’ labels ultimately distract us from the real issue: the lack of support for American families. ‘No Country for Mothers’ follows activist Reshma Saujani as she discovers the lies dividing American moms and chronicles a nationwide movement to bring them back together and win historic support.”

Minnesota State Mankato’s Women’s Center educates the campus on gender equity, advocates for gender justice and empowers students to lead change.

MSU’s Women’s Center is partnering with Life-Work Planning Center, a private nonprofit organization in Mankato, to show the film. Life-Work Planning Center is a Minnesota Family Resiliency Partnership program, a SNAP employment and training program and a pre-employment program for women and men.

Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,721 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which includes 26 colleges and seven universities.
