MANKATO, Minnesota – John McAndrew, Nashville-based singer-songwriter and recording artist, will present a live concert performance on Thursday, March 26 at 7 p.m. in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall as part of the Spring Music Performance Series hosted by the Department of Performing Arts at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
McAndrew is known for his deeply personal music that blends storytelling with themes of healing, transformation and recovery. His work has received recognition in the music industry and has been in Grammy consideration in the Roots Gospel category. In addition to his artistic achievements, McAndrew serves as the music services coordinator at Cumberland Heights in Nashville, and he is a licensed counselor, using music therapy to support individuals in substance abuse and addiction recovery.
His songs have also been featured in several feature films, including “One Little Red Wagon,” directed by David Anspaugh. McAndrew’s performance in Mankato promises an evening of heartfelt, original music that resonates with audiences on both emotional and spiritual levels.
McAndrew says, “Every song I write comes from a place of honesty — about struggle, healing, and hope. Sharing that music in a community like Mankato, where education and connection matter so deeply, makes the experience even more meaningful.”
Performance Series Director Dale Haefner adds, “John McAndrew’s performance connects music, storytelling and personal experiences in a way that deeply resonates with audiences. I am excited to welcome my friend and fellow musician to our performance series and to share his powerful message with our campus and the greater Mankato community.”
On March 24, McAndrew will present a program of songs and healing, focusing on positive growth and life transformation at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato as part of its weekly “Journeys” program, a series where healing and hope happen. The program will begin at 5:45 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
General admission for McAndrew’s March 26 performance at the University is $10. University students are admitted free with a valid MavCARD. Advance purchase is strongly encouraged. Those who wish to purchase tickets through the University’s ticketing portal should go to hss.mnsu.edu/music-events.
