Minnesota State University, Mankato Centennial Student Union News Release
Mankato, Minnesota – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Centennial Student Union once again welcomes two hours of boogie and blues times two as Minnesota piano masters Scottie Miller and Tom Hunter team up for the 2026 edition of “’Dualing’ Pianos.”
Performing as part of the Centennial Student Union’s ongoing Serendipity Music Series, the midweek, midday performance will be Wednesday, April 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the CSU Hearth Lounge. The event is free and open to the public. Campus visitor parking information is available at: https://www.mnsu.edu/visit/campus-visitor-parking/
Lenny Koupal, coordinator of the Serendipity Music Series, which spotlights Minnesota musicians, said this is the fourth annual April reunion of musical stylings by Miller and Hunter.
“It’s ‘dualing,’ not dueling pianos,” Koupal said. “It’s a play on words as these two piano powerhouses play off each other to improvise and enhance a range of popular tunes. It’s a highlight of our yearly Serendipity Music Series lineup.”
For more than 15 years, the Serendipity Music Series has brought nearly 70 Minnesota musicians into the Centennial Student Union to serenade the weekday lunch-time traffic moving through the MSU student union. Among the series’ earliest musicians was Tom Hunter.
“In texting terms, TH is the OG of SMS,” Koupal said. “He was one of my first bookings. We were so lucky to add Scottie Miller and later have them team up for this once-a-year duet. It truly is a unique opportunity to hear these two masters perform together.”
