Boy, this Spring season is really something, isn't it?  Things in general have been pretty weird, but then you throw a pandemic into the mix and it's a whole other matter.  We hope you're all doing okay out there in Radio Land.  Being on the radio and doing what we love is our happy place, and it's nice to have at least one thing in our life that resembles normalcy.  Thanks for being a part of that normalcy!
We've done pledge drives during times of economic uncertainty, but we don't know anybody out there that has done one under these circumstances.  Through all of this, KMSU has been on the air and doing what we can to add something a little extra to your day.  We love being a part of this community, because you look out for each other and care about the state of the world.  More importantly, you really value your COMMUNITY.  The care and concern that we see and hear each day reflected in conversations, on social media, and in action from our friends and neighbors is so inspiring, and it lets us know that there is hope when things are challenging.  The path to the other side of this might be unclear, but it is there, and we'll gladly follow it with you.

For the safety of our volunteers and staff, we've had to reduce the number of KMSU personnel that have access to the radio station.  Faced with this challenge, many of your favorite hosts have really stepped up and used their creativity and love of radio to keep producing shows for you.  The conditions aren't "normal" (whatever normal is for a radio station like KMSU!), but hopefully things will be "normal" soon.  They love this station, and they love sharing their music, opinions, and creativity with you, and we hope that you love what they do.

Radio stations like KMSU are an exceptionally rare breed.  Give your local commercial station a listen and you'll hear a lot of canned content and heavily formatted playlists. Stations around the country have been cutting people left and right so they can make more money, but they're also cutting personality and anything they might have left resembling authenticity and a genuine community voice. It's sad, really, and it's definitely not KMSU.

You may have noticed, but KMSU is not normal.  We're not driven by ratings books and consultants selling their version of what the people want.  This station is as unique as the community we're proud to call home. The people you hear each day on our schedule are passionate about radio and the sounds that they share every time they're on the air.  The music you hear is from their personal collections, and the end result is something that is one-of-a-kind and pretty damn special.

Normally we would have our Spring Pledge Drive at the end of April.  This is the drive when you'd usually hear the Shuffle Function 24 Hour Pledge Drive A-Go-Go, Free Form Freakout would assemble an incredible line up of experimental and improvised sounds, and Grind-Fu Cinema would kick off another season of fun films for free.  That has all been put on hold, like so many things in our life, because we need to make sure folks are safe.  We needed to catch our breath and figure out what's going on.  That hasn't stopped us from doing what we do, though, and we're still bringing you unique radio that you can't find anywhere else.

KMSU will now begin our Spring drive on Friday, May 15th, and it will run through Friday, May 22nd.  We hope you'll take a moment of your time and pledge so we can continue delivering the programming that you know and love.  It's such a privilege to serve the KMSU listening area, as well as the world via the internet, and we don't take that for granted. You are all radio heroes, and we'd really love to hear from you.  Stay tuned for the swag we'll have available as thank you gifts, including what could possibly be the greatest KMSU t-shirt in history.  It will seriously blow your mind.

Thanks for all that do you! You're the best in the biz.

Your pals,
