How are we serving students during Covid-19?
Undergraduate application fees are waived through may 31, 2020
No deadline to confirm enrollment for the fall of 2020
Given all of the uncertainty during the spread of COVID-19 virus, Minnesota State Mankato will provide as much time as necessary for students and families to make decisions about their college choice.
Flexibility on ACT/SAT scores
We will make admission decisions based on high school transcripts and GPA for students applying for the fall of 2020 that do not have ACT or SAT scores and are unable to take the test this spring. Students missing test scores will not be required to submit them prior to enrolling for the fall of 2020.
Accomodating pass/fail grade systems
Students will not be penalized in our admissions process if their school moves to a pass/ fail grading system for this spring term. We consider cumulative GPA in our admission decisions and will consider a "P" as a positive grade trend for the spring of 2020 in our consideration of admissions appeals.
We sincerely appreciate your interest in Minnesota State Mankato, as well as your patience and understanding as the situation evolves. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Admissions Office at 507-389-1822.
Summer Orientation for new students
All new first-year and transfer students will be invited to complete an online orientation program on May 18, 2020. After completing the online orientation module, students will be eligible for registration. More details can be found on the orientation website. Individual and small group advising and registration to be completed virtually. Finally, the university will provide an enhanced Welcome Week during the first week students are back on campus. Students will have the opportunity to complete any final steps to prepare to be a Maverick as well as connect with one another and develop relationships.
Course placement for new students
Due to COVID-19 complexities, Accuplacer testing has been suspended. In the meantime, Minnesota State University, Mankato will be using a combination of information such as high school GPA, MCA, ACT, SAT, or existing Accuplacer scores to place students in their courses. If you are not satisfied with your current placement based on these scores, you may choose to wait until in-person Accuplacer resumes to take the course placement exam. Consult with your academic advisor or email email@example.com with questions and/or concerns. Find more information about placement into English and math courses at www.mnsu.edu/success/placement.
All classes during Minnesota State University, Mankato's two summer sessions this year are offered online–and offer a great opportunity to complete a general education requirement or fulfill pre-requisites for your major. The registration window for summer sessions is now open. Fore more information on how to apply and register, visit www.mnsu.edu/summer.
