Sept. 24: Minnesota State Mankato Student Government to Host Midterm Election Candidate Forum
Mankato, Minn. – The Student Government at Minnesota State University, Mankato will host a forum with candidates appearing on the November ballot on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. in the MSU Centennial Student Union’s Ostrander Auditorium.
The event is free and open to the public, and a meet-and-greet reception will follow the event. Free parking is available beginning at 5 p.m. in the visitors pay lot (lot 4) across from Centennial Student Union.
Candidates invited to appear include those running for the following offices and appearing on the ballot for voters in areas where the campus proper and the Stadium Heights Residence Community are located:
- U.S. senator from Minnesota
- U.S. representative for Minnesota Congressional District 1
- Minnesota governor/lieutenant governor
- Minnesota attorney general
- Minnesota state auditor
- Minnesota secretary of state
- Minnesota state senator for District 18
- Minnesota state representative for District 18B
- Blue Earth County commissioner for District 3
- Mankato mayor
- Mankato City Council Ward 3 (central campus)
- Mankato City Council Ward 5 (Stadium Heights residence community)
Candidates have been given a deadline of 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 to confirm their participation. An update, listing confirmed participants, will be posted on this event page by Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Since 1963, the Student Government at Minnesota State Mankato has worked to represent students’ interests at the local, state and federal levels. Today, that effort supports more than 15,000 current students proud to call themselves Mavericks.
Minnesota State Mankato, a comprehensive university with 15,721 students, is part of the Minnesota State system, which includes 26 colleges and seven universities.
