MANKATO – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Performing Arts will open. the Mainstage theatre season with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s  “Oklahoma!”

Set on the wide-open plains of the American frontier, “Oklahoma!” tells the story of cowboy Curly and the spirited Laurey as they navigate young love, rivalry, and the changing winds of a new nation. With unforgettable characters, and familiar melodies, this golden-age musical is a joyful celebration of hope, community, and resilience.

Featuring a cast of 27 students, a live 13-piece orchestra, the iconic dream ballet, and tap-dancing cowboys, this production kicks off the Mainstage theatre season with a party on the prairie.

“Oklahoma!” runs Oct. 2-4 and 9-11 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 11 & 12 at 2 p.m. in the Ted Paul Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Tickets are $25 regular, $21 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $5 for MSU students. The Box Office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center, or buy single tickets online at MSUTheatre.com. The Box Office line is 507-389-6661.
