MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato's Department of Music & Entertainment Industries presents a number of student ensemble concerts as the University approaches Spring Break week. 

Instrumental Jazz and Contemporary Vocal Groups Feb. 26 

The Jazz Mavericks and Contemporary Singers will perform on Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. The concert takes place in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Avenue. Douglas Snapp directs the instrumental jazz bands. The Maverick Fusion and Vocal Precision a cappella vocal groups are co-directed by Snapp and Stephanie Thorpe. The program will include big band arrangements and popular a cappella versions of popular songs. 

Winter Choral February 27 

The Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform their annual Winter Concert on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m. The choirs are directed by Aaron Humble. The concert takes place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 632 South Broad Street in Mankato. The title of the concert is “The One Who Sings. . .”. with the groups performing an assortment of repertoire featuring a musical mix from Renaissance to contemporary. 

Concert Wind Ensemble March 1 

The Concert Wind Ensemble will perform on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Elias J. Halling Recital Hall of the Earley Center for Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Avenue. The ensemble is directed by Amy K. Roisum Foley. The concert features “Pictures at an Exhibition,” a suite of 10 pieces plus a recurring, varied Promenade theme, composed in 1874 by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky.

Concert admission is $9 for general admission and $7 for K-12 students and children. University students are admitted free with a valid MavCARD.
