Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Performing Arts News Release

MANKATO – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Performing Arts continues the Mainstage theatre season with “The Birds.”

“The Birds” runs Jan. 29-Feb. 1 and Feb. 5-7 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 7 & 8 at 2 p.m. in the Andreas Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts, Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Popularized by the Alfred Hitchcock film, “The Birds” is an intimate drama that dives into the fears that live just beneath the surface of the human psyche. In an isolated house, strangers Nat and Diane take shelter from relentless masses of attacking birds. With food scarce, trust fragile, and the sound of wings growing louder each day, paranoia takes hold of their makeshift fortress.

The Andreas Theatre offers an intimate and emotionally charged venue, enhanced by John David Paul’s crowded scene design. The sound design by nationally recognized sound designer Benji Inniger draws the audience into the story. Audiences can expect to see something very different than the Hitchcock film in this spooky adaptation.

Tickets are $18 regular, $15 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $5 for MSU students. The Box Office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center, or buy single tickets online at MSUTheatre.com. The Box Office line is 507-389-6661.
