Minnesota State Mankato Department of Aviation to Hold Fall Orientation at Airport on Thursday; Ribbon-Cutting for New Jet Simulator on Friday

Mankato, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Aviation is holding a fall orientation for its more than 700 enrolled students from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24 in the new North Star hangar at the Mankato Regional Airport. More than a dozen aviation organizations and airlines have been invited to attend.
On Friday, the aviation department will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on campus to celebrate the addition of the department’s second jet simulator, an Aerosim CRJ700 Flight Training Device, at 10 a.m. in Wiecking Center. The University’s first jet simulator was installed on campus in 2014.
Friday’s 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony will start outside Wiecking Center on the north side of the building (Malin Street side) and conclude inside the building in Room B 133

Both flight simulators at Minnesota State Mankato were purchased by North Star Aviation, the University’s flight training partner.
The simulators are compliant to Federal Aviation Administration standards and provide students an introduction to the training they will receive at an airline or any other advanced jet aircraft program.
