College of Business Student Team One of Nation’s Top 7 Teams in National Diversity Case Competition

NDCC StudentsMankato, Minn. – A team of four Minnesota State University, Mankato College of Business students was one of seven teams from across the nation to make the finals in the 7th Annual Indiana University Kelley School of Business National Diversity Case Competition, held Friday and Saturday, Jan. 12-13 in Bloomington, Ind.

The Minnesota State Mankato student team included (from left to right in photo) Riccardo Prosdocimi, a senior from Italy, who is majoring in marketing and management and economics; Victoria Camasmie, a senior from Brazil, who is majoring in international business; Nathaniel Branwall, a senior from Stillwater, Minn., who is majoring in finance and environmental science; and Othmane Sekkat, a senior from Morocco, who is majoring in finance.

Minnesota State Mankato’s team joined teams from Indiana University, Michigan State University, Boston College, the University of Virginia, Drexel University and the University of Washington as teams that made the finals. Drexel University won the competition.

Minnesota State Mankato was the only university from Minnesota invited to participate in the competition, and its student team beat teams from 28 institutions, the majority of which are members of the Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, Southeastern and Atlantic Coast conferences and elite private universities, according to Minnesota State Mankato faculty coach Wade Davis, an assistant professor of business law.

This was the third year that Minnesota State Mankato has participated in the competition, for which student teams were provided a case study and were required to prepare a 15-minute presentation in response to the case and then be prepared for a 10-minute Q&A following their presentation.

According to its website, the Kelley School of Business National Diversity Case Competition is a premier event that brings together top-level, diverse talent from colleges and universities across the country. It is held annually over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. Undergraduate students from institutions across the United States have the opportunity to meet representatives from the event’s corporate partners throughout the weekend.
