Minnesota State University, Mankato Department of Performing Arts News Release

MANKATO – Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Department of Performing Arts will present the 2026 Spring Dance Concert Thursday-Saturday, April 30-May 2, and the Student Dance Showcase on Sunday, May 3 in the Ted Paul Theatre at the Earley Center for Performing Arts.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday for the Spring Dance Concert and 2 p.m. Sunday for the Student Dance Showcase.

Andreas guest choreographers for the event are longtime ballet instructor Allison Doughty Marquesen and Cheng Xiong. As a Hmong dance artist/researcher, Cheng is the first in Minnesota to fuse forms of breaking, contemporary and acrobatic dance styles. His integrated movement practice consists of floorwork, high physicality transitions and rigorous dynamic movements that thrive on integration and cross-training.

In addition to the guest artists and the faculty choreographed pieces, four students will have their choreography featured in the concert: Theresa Breck, Cadence Brown, S.C. Gildner and Ella Potocnik.

The May 3 performance is a Student Dance Showcase, which is choreographed, designed, produced and performed entirely by students. This performance is at 2 p.m. in the Ted Paul Theatre.

Tickets are $10 regular price, $9 for seniors ages 65 and older, children under 16 and groups of 15 or more; and $5 for MSU students for the Spring Dance Concert.

Tickets for the Student Showcase are $5 and available at the door.

The Box Office is open 4-6 p.m. weekdays in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center, or buy single tickets online at MSUTheatre.com. Call the Box Office at 507-389-6661.
