Antonia Bacigalupa Albaum, Academic Success Coordinator
Education: I graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in International Studies. I’m currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling and Student Personnel: College Student Affairs.
What I like about being a ASC: Being the ASC gives me the opportunity to work with other departments on campus to promote student success. I also love coming up with creative events to teach students to take a holistic approach to student success.
Student Connections: Working with the CAs has been a blast as I help them create meaningful programs for their halls. I also enjoy getting to know the students who attend my programs and helping them be successful as students.
Favorite ASC Memory/Experience: My favorite memory of being the ASC was hosting a stress ball making event. I had so much fun chatting with students about their stress levels and making stress balls with them.
Professional Development: I’m excited about the opportunities available in residence life for professional development. From attending interesting workshops on diversity hosted by different departments on campus to shadowing conduct meetings, my supervisor has been fantastic at encouraging me to explore new opportunities within my position.
Position Balance and Academics: Having a consistent focus on academic success really helps me balance my schoolwork and my GA work. The lessons that I’m preparing and teaching my students also apply to me so it’s been a fantastic way to help others while also helping myself.
My Professional Dream: My professional dream is to re-think the university experience for students by bridging academic affairs and student affairs to create an integrated experiential learning experience that’s available for all students and really encourages them to push their boundaries and try something new.
