Clock that Tea

Clock that Tea is a series hosted by the Women’s Center and the Violence Awareness & Response Program, and is an intentional space to discuss hot topics that impact human rights, wellbeing, and advocacy. Hosted on the first Wednesday of each month, this space is open to all students on the MSU Mankato campus.

For Domestic Violence Prevention and Awareness Month, we will be having a focused discussion on The Manosphere. According to UN Women, the Manosphere is “an umbrella term for online communities that have increasingly promoted narrow and aggressive definitions of what it means to be a man – and the false narrative that feminism and gender equality have come at the cost of men’s rights. These communities promote the idea that emotional control, material wealth, physical appearance and dominance, especially over women, are markers of male worth.” Understanding that this exists and has impacted relationship equity, embodiment of masculinity, and overall wellbeing, we will identify ways to intervene and address harm as individuals and within communities and systems.

Sustainable Justice: College Tour and Special Expert from Latin America

Explore the connections between sustainability, social justice, and higher education through a special presentation featuring an expert from Latin America.

Indigenous Peoples Day Film Showing

The film that will be shown is Battle for the Northern Plains.

We will watch episode four of this documentary series. Battle for the Northern Plains chronicles the epic struggle for the American frontier from 1865 to the tragedy at Wounded Knee. The episode details the strategic campaigns of legendary tribal leaders like Red Cloud and Roman Nose as they defended their homelands, culminating in iconic conflicts like Red Cloud's War and the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

The community reading book will be Big Chief by Jon Hickey. Pick up your free copy of the book at either the Blue Earth County Historical Society or the Blue Earth County Library.

Synopsis

Set within a fictional tribal nation, the story follows a young tribal leader navigating political pressures, personal relationships and the responsibility of serving his people. DEI x Student Financial Services Drop-in Hours

Student Financial Aid Staff will be hosting walk in hours in CSU 284 throughout the Fall Semester. This is a great opportunity for any student to get help with financial aid verification, loan questions, their FAFSA application or any other concerns they may have. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend, no appointment necessary. Check in at the front desk, as students will be assisted on first-come, first-serve basis.

Trauma-Informed Yoga

The Violence Awareness and Response Program partnered with Campus Recreation as part of our prevention and advocacy programming to host trauma-informed yoga courses. This space welcomes individuals who have survived trauma or are looking for a way to reduce stress.

What is trauma-informed yoga all about? Mindfulness, choice, and self-awareness. Techniques include gentle, grounding movements and breathwork, avoiding triggers, meditation, and promoting emotional safety. It is easy to follow, relaxing, and you can move at your own pace.

The courses are free and open to students. It is perfect for anyone looking for an inclusive yoga practice; no prior experience required. Yoga mats will be provided (or if you have a mat, you may bring your own).

We Rise Leadership Program

The We Rise Leadership Program is a transformative opportunity to build meaningful connections, deepen your understanding of your unique leadership journey and strengths, and collaborate on a collective initiative that supports and uplifts our community for the future.

To encourage collaboration and collective action, we utilize a cohort model. Before registering to participate, we ask participants to commit to three workshops and two keynotes for Fall 2026, with 2-4 project development meetings in Spring 2027.

This event occurs October 5, November 2 and November 30. The program culminates in a capstone project for Women’s History Month in March 2027.
