Black Movie Horror Night

We'll be watching The Gates (2026) as a part of our Black History Month celebration.

Here's a synopsis:

Three friends’ road trip turns deadly when they witness a murder in a gated community, forcing them to survive against a menacing patriarch and unravel a web of danger and deception.

All are Welcomed! Come comfortable and cozy. Feel free to bring your own blanket. Couches and comfy seating are available on a first come first serve basis.

DEI x Student Financial Services Drop-in Hours

Student Financial Aid Staff will be hosting walk in hours in CSU 284 throughout the Fall Semester. This is a great opportunity for any student to get help with financial aid verification, loan questions, their FAFSA application or any other concerns they may have. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend, no appointment necessary. Check in at the front desk, as students will be assisted on first-come, first-serve basis.

2026 American Indian Keynote Night

Join us for a keynote presentation with author, Jonathan Hickey (Big Chief - Community Read Book for Indigenous Peoples Day 2026) in the CSU Ballroom from 4 - 5:30 p.m.

Author Q&A and Book Signing will happen after the conclusion of the keynote.
Coffee, tea, and water will be served.

Act Up

The Women’s Center is hosting a resource fair, dinner and keynote in the Centennial Student Union Ballroom encouraging students to ACT UP: connecting their talents to your volunteer needs to take action to serve our community.

The Resource Fair begins at 6 p.m. (with a 5:30 p.m. set up time). Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. and we will be joined by keynote JP Pritchett, owner and operator of Smitten Kitten, the adult toy store receiving global recognition as a Minneapolis hub for mutual aid during Operation Metro Surge earlier this year.

The event will conclude with a few words from Zonta about the upcoming 16 Days of Activism led by UN Women. 16 Days of Activism is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that starts November 25 and goes through December 10.

This event is brought to you by the Women's Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato and Greater Mankato ACT: Advocacy and Community Together. Advocacy and Community Together is a nonpartisan coalition of Greater Mankato nonprofits using our collective power to provide resources and advocate for the sector.

Indigenous Film Showing: Dakota 38

All are welcome to for the Indigenous Film Showing of the documentary "Dakota 38".

Film Synopsis: In the spring of 2005, Jim Miller, a Native spiritual leader and Vietnam veteran, found himself in a dream riding on horseback across the great plains of South Dakota. Just before he awoke, he arrived at a riverbank in Minnesota and saw 38 of his Dakota ancestors hanged. At the time, Jim knew nothing of the largest mass execution in United States history, ordered by Abraham Lincoln on December 26, 1862. “When you have dreams, you know when they come from the creator… As any recovered alcoholic, I made believe that I didn’t get it. I tried to put it out of my mind, yet it’s one of those dreams that bothers you night and day.”

Now, four years later, embracing the message of the dream, Jim and a group of riders retrace the 330-mile route of his dream on horseback from Lower Brule, South Dakota to Mankato, Minnesota to arrive at the hanging site on the anniversary of the execution. “We can’t blame the wasichus anymore. We’re doing it to ourselves. We’re selling drugs. We’re killing our own people. That’s what this ride is about, is healing.” This is the story of their journey- the blizzards they endure, the Native and Non-Native communities that house and feed them along the way, and the dark history they are beginning to wipe away.

This film was created in line with Native healing practices. In honoring this ceremony, we are screening and distributing “Dakota 38″ as a gift rather than for sale. This film was inspired by one individual’s dream and is not promoting any organization or affiliated with any political or religious groups. It was simply created to encourage healing and reconciliation

DEI Fall 2026 Graduation Celebration
