Maverick Social Justice Summer Camp

The Maverick Social Justice Summer Camp aims to promote awareness of social justice issues and help cultivate secondary education (9th - 12th-grade*) student leaders, especially in multicultural communities. The camp exposes participants to various topics relevant to social justice, especially as they pertain to multicultural groups. How will the camp be conducted amidst the COVID-19 pandemic?

Great question! The well-being of our camp participants is important to our staff. Thus, we have developed an online model for youth to participate in this year's camp while remaining socially distant from others outside of their household.

What will students need to participate in the camp?

Maverick Social Justice Summer Camp participants will need access to a computer, webcam (built-in or external), microphone (built-in or external), and reliable internet. This equipment will allow the camper to participate in our daily Zoom activities. We understand computer and internet access is not always possible for families, so we encourage you to explore the low or no-cost internet and computer options listed by the university on our Keep Learning webpage

If it is your first time using Zoom, don't fret! Here is a helpful tutorial to assist you in downloading and setting up the software.
