Join the Team - Graduate Assistantship Opportunities for 2021-2022

Want your graduate experience to be unforgettable? Student Activities is looking for two graduate assistants to join our team for the 2021-2022 academic year! 

Each position is listed below with a general overview and a list of responisibilites.

Application Deadline: We will start accepting applications on January 11, 2021. Applications will be accepted until March 5, 2020 or until each position is filled, whichever happens first. All assistantships within Student Activities are contingent on anticipated student fee funding. 

Salary: Each position is a full-time assistantship (20 hours per week) with $5,000 stipend for each semester of appointment, out-of- state tuition waiver and waiver of tuition charges for up to 9 graduate credits per semester. Appointments made after the tenth day of classes are not eligible for tuition waiver.

Responsibilities include:

  • Meet weekly with Assistant Director, Leadership Team members (Mavs In Action, ASB, etc.) and specific group volunteers.
  • Provide direction or assistance to student staff (work study) and volunteers to assure efficiency and continuity in program development areas, including site leader/student leader training, selection, etc.
  • Implement and supervise activities as assigned.
  • Post-project, meet with the Office of Community Engagement Team to evaluate performance, give inter-department feedback, and document discussions.
  • Develop and redesign project/programs according to post-project analysis. Document changes for future use by the office.
  • Through exit surveys, interviews, and personal participation, analyze indicators like attendance, participation, and impact of Community Engagement Office programming and activities.
  • Maintain documentation regarding surveys, feedback, and from other sources to act as a reference for future programming and projects.
  • Develop assessment tools to evaluate participant experience
  • Perform tasks as assigned by the Assistant Director of the Community Engagement Office or Student Activities staff 
  • Act as a knowledge source for individuals inquiring about the Community Engagement Office. 
  • Develop the undergraduate Community Engagement staff schedule.
  • Represent Community Engagement and Student Activities Office in presentations, open house fairs, and similar events.

Responsibilities Include:

Advising and Program Development

  • Advise the Maverick Involvement Team, including weekly 1-1 meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with Assistant Director and Maverick Involvement Team to create an array of leadership development programs open to all MSU, Mankato students.
  • Provide advising and support the University’s 200+ RSOs, their executive members, and advisors regarding University policies and procedures, resources available to RSOs, effective programming, best practices for running RSOs, and other miscellaneous inquiries.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and assessment of student organization trainings, involvement fairs, and other RSO-related programs.
  • Develop and redesign project/programs according to post-project analysis. Document changes for future use by the office.
  • Identify and develop key institutional partnerships for co-operative programming.

Assessment and Evaluation

  • Post-project, meet with the Assistant Director to evaluate performance, give inter-department feedback, and document discussions.
  • Develop assessment tools to evaluate participant experience.
  • Through exit surveys, interviews, and personal participation, analyze indicators like attendance, participation, and impact of leadership programming and activities.
  • Maintain documentation regarding surveys, feedback, and from other sources to act as a reference for future programming and projects development.

Marketing

  • Coordinate marketing for RSOs, and Leadership including but not limited to: website development, press releases, poster design, and social media.

Office and Administrative Tasks

  • Meet weekly with Assistant Director and Student Activities Team members.
  • Serve as a community administrator for Presence (Student Organizational Management Software).
  • Assist with the documentation and processing of RSO Recognition requests and RSO resource requests
  • Implement and supervise all activities as assigned.
  • Represent the Student Activities Office in presentations, open house fairs, and similar events.
