Alternative Spring Break

Volunteer. Travel. Connect.

Check here in October 2019 to apply for ASB 2020!

Every year, a group of Minnesota State University, Mankato students travel to a different location to spend their spring break volunteering on a local service project. Past trips have included repairing houses with Habitat for Humanity and maintaining music and art facilities for homeless youth.

The 2017 Alternative Spring Break was to Winnipeg, Canada! Participants volunteered with a local nonprofit agency assisting refugees and helping teach English classes. Each year is a potentially life-changing service experience.

The total cost of the trip is typically around $400 per person, although each site is different.

Kansas City, Missouri is the destination for the 2020 ASB trip. The group will volunteer at the zoo, at a community garden, for Habitat for Humanity, and more. Space is limited, so sign up as soon as possible to ensure there is enough space for you.
