Parking Lot 22 South/By the sports dome

Second Harvest Heartland hosts monthly food basket distributions in each county in Minnesota to support families facing hardship due to the pandemic. We need committed volunteers to help distribute food boxes to 700 families. Distribution will begin at 10:30 am, and end at 12:30 pm, earlier if we give away all the food. We will need you to be there early - if everything is ready, we could start early. This event is rain or shine, so please dress for the elements including wearing sturdy closed-toed shoes (NO flip flops or sandals. You will be working in an area where traffic will be driving around, heavy boxes will be carried around, and pallet jacks will move boxes of food. We want everyone safe! We should not be able to see your toes. Thanks!)

This volunteer task is to help with the CFAP food distribution by serving as a runner and handling a variety of tasks.

You will work alongside the intake volunteer and the loading volunteers. If a vehicle is picking up food for more than one family, the intake volunteer will put a number tag on the windshield and the car will pull ahead to the loading area. Once the loading volunteer confirms the number of pickups with the driver, that volunteer will give you the number tag to take back to the intake volunteer.
