IT Solutions Student Employee Spotlight

IT Solutions student workers and invaluable to our success – we couldn’t do it without their help! We’d like to showcase our graduating seniors, who all have made amazing contributions to our team’s success. Congratulations, Spring 2020 grads, and thank you for your work!

Sherwin Bothello

Sherwin works for IT Solutions as a Student Information Security Analyst in the information security department. He is from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and his major is management information systems. After graduation, he plans to attend graduate school in the field of cybersecurity here at Minnesota State University, Mankato. After that, he plans to move back home to Dubai to pursue a career in the information security industry.

We asked Sherwin what he enjoyed most about working at IT Solutions and here’s what he had to say: “I enjoyed working with various ITS Team Members on new projects and initiatives, such as the CyberAware Podcast series, to aid understanding and develop cybersecurity awareness amongst the general public. I liked tackling difficult security issues like implementing multi-factor authentication or remote working during crisis situations.”  

Thank you, Sherwin, for your hard work on the ITS Information Security Team helping to keep our campus protected from cyber threats. We cannot wait to see your skills advance as you pursue your graduate degree – congratulations and best of luck!

Lexi Poetter

Lexi works for IT Solutions as a Writing and Communications Intern in the communications department. She is from Blue Earth, Minnesota, and her major is interdisciplinary studies. After graduation, she plans to find a career in the creative fields of marketing or communications. Lexi created graphics, managed ITS social media, wrote news articles, and helped with overall communications at IT Solutions. She says her internship has given her valuable real-world experience and helped her discover her passion.  

We asked Lexi what she enjoyed most about working at IT Solutions and here’s what she had to say: “My most exciting job I’ve ever had has been at IT Solutions – every day brings something new!”

Thank you, Lexi, for your hard work on the team and for the effort you’ve put in to help keep students, faculty, and staff informed about everything tech-related at the University. Congratulations on your graduation and best wishes for whatever comes next!

Marcus Corbin

Marcus works for IT Solutions as a Lead Student Consultant at the IT Solutions Center. He is from Plymouth, Minnesota, and his major is computer engineering with a focus in IoT (Internet of things). After graduation, he will be working as a full-time firmware engineer in architecture at Itron in Waseca, Minnesota. He will create water meters, gas meters, electricity meters, and many other global IoT solutions. He is excited to be a part of their team soon!

We asked Marcus what he enjoyed most about working at IT Solutions and here’s what he had to say: “ITS is like a second family to me. My colleagues and I share a unique bond and this in turn allows us to have a great work ethic. People are always ready to help when need arises and there is an amazing opportunity to grow within ITS, like improving customer service, communication, and leadership skills.”

Thank you, Marcus, for being such an integral part of the ITS team by helping students with their tech needs and boosting their success. Congrats, grad! We wish you luck in your new role and hope you achieve all your goals!

Eric Buck

Eric works for IT Solutions as a Student Consultant at the IT Solutions Center. He is from Mankato, Minnesota, and his major is computer information technology. After graduating with a degree in Computer Information Technology, he plans to find a networking position close to home in Vernon Center, Minnesota. He plans to use the income to catch up on all the camping that he missed out on. He is undecided about grad school, but will start working on several certifications relevant to his field of interest soon.

We asked Eric what he enjoyed most about working at IT Solutions and here’s what he had to say: “I enjoyed being able to troubleshoot the variety of problems brought to the ITS and resolve the issue people were having with their devices.”

Thank you, Eric, for the contributions you made to the ITS team with your fantastic problem-solving and customer service skills. We can’t wait to see you creating a big impact in the field of information technology – congratulations on your graduation and good luck!

PJ Gurung

PJ works for IT Solutions as a Lead Student Consultant at the IT Solutions Center. She is from Nepal and her major is psychology. After graduating, she plans on taking a gap year to prepare herself for grad school. She wants to live in a bigger city while pursuing her master’s degree.

We asked PJ what she enjoyed most about working at IT Solutions and here’s what she had to say: “The connections I made while working for ITS are incredible. I was able to hone my social and professional communication skills, make new friends who are very close to me, and had the freedom to be myself, which happens to be my favorite part of working for ITS.”

Enushka Beruwelage

Enushka works for IT Solutions as a Student Consultant at the IT Solutions Center. He is from Sri Lanka and his major is mechanical engineering. After graduation, his plans are to work in the field of engineering.

We asked Enushka what he enjoyed most about working at IT Solutions and here’s what he had to say: “I enjoyed getting to know people!”

Nicholas Linell

Nicholas works for IT Solutions as a Student Asset Coordinator. He is from Oakdale, Minnesota, and his major is psychology. He also has a certificate in museum studies. After he graduates, his plans include enrolling in graduate school and continuing his research on topics of his interest.
