What is Multi-Factor Authentication?
Multi-factor authentication is a security method which requires that the persons verify their identity in two or more ways. The verifications are usually a combination of at least two of these options:
- Something you have (access code, mobile phone)
- Something you know (your password)
- Something you are (fingerprint, retina scan)
Why would I want Multi-Factor Authentication?
Passwords aren’t as strong as you might think! As the number of cyberthreats on the web increases, many organizations and businesses are utilizing multi-factor authentication technology to help keep their sensitive information safe. Multi-Factor Authentication requires an additional sign-in verification method that a cyber threat actor wouldn’t have, even if they have your password (something you have, something you know, something you are).
