VPN Client Installation

How do I setup the VPN client? How do I connect to MavDISK or MavPRINT from off campus?

The following document will provide information on how to connect to the VPN client using your StarID on both a Windows computer and a Mac.  If you would like to use the webpage VPN (clientless) or additional information about the VPN, please view the article about Virtual Private Network (VPN).  The VPN client is used to allow your computer to do tasks off campus that would usually require you to be on campus. Examples of this include but are not limited to the following:

  • Connect to MavPRINT
  • Map a network drive (MavDISK)
  • Connect to Krypton
  • Access ISRS
  • And more

VPN Client Installation:

  1. Navigate to https://vpn.mnsu.edu.
  2. Enter your StarID next to USERNAME and your StarID Password next to PASSWORD.

  3. On the left hand side, click AnyConnect.

  4. In the middle of the screen, click Start AnyConnect.

  5. Click on Download for Windows.  

Note:  This page will detect your operating system.  So you may see a different message such as Download for Linux or Download of Mac OSX.

 

  1. Depending on the browser you should give a message asking your to save or Run the installer.
    1.   If you have run as an option:
      1.  Click on Run.  
    2. If you don't have run as an option:
      1. Click on Save and then run it once it is complete.

 

  1. Once the install file has downloaded, run it. You will see the following screen. Click Next.

  2. Click the bubble next to I accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next.

  3. Click Install.

  4.   If you are on Windows you will get a User Account Control window.  Click on Yes to start the installation.

 

 

  1. Your install will now begin.

 

 

  1. Once the install has completed, click Finish.

Locating and running VPN on Windows:

  1. If using Windows, click on the Start Menu located on the bottom left hand corner of your screen.

  2. On a Windows machine, find the Cisco folder then click on Cisco.  Than click on Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to open it.

  3. If prompted for a Server, enter vpn.mnsu.edu.

  4. Enter your StarID for the Username and your StarID Password for the Password and click OK.
  5. Your VPN client will now connect.

  6. To verify that you are connected on a Windows machine, click the up arrow located to the left of your clock in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

  7. The circular symbol with a pad lock on it signifies that you are connected. If you do not see the locked padlock, you are not connected.

Locating and running VPN on Mac:

  1. If using a Mac, click anywhere on the desktop, then at the top menu bar, click Go --> Applications.

  2. On a Mac machine, navigate the Cisco folder then double-click Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client to open it.

  3. If prompted for a Server, enter vpn.mnsu.edu.

  4. Enter your StarID for the Username and your StarID Password for the Password and click OK.
