HOW DO I Enroll in multi-factor authentication?

  1. On your iPhone, navigate to the App Store.

 

  1. Tap the search tab in the bottom right.

 

  1. Tap "Get" on the Microsoft Authentication tile as shown below.

 

  1. Sign-in to the App Store with your fingerprint or Apple ID password. After the install is complete you can move on to the next steps.

 

  1. Click to follow the link to self-enrollment.

 

  1. Complete the ‘additional security verification’ before enabling MFA by selecting the ‘additional security verification’ link.

 

  1. Log in.
    • Students: [StarID]@go.minnstate.edu
    • Faculty/Staff: [StarID]@minnstate.edu

       

 

  1. Once signed in, you will be prompted to provide more security information to your account. Click ‘Next’

 

  1. Verify your backup verification methods:
  1. Verify Authentication Phone.
    1. Type a phone number that is different from the listed Office Phone (listed below).
  1. Verify  Office Phone if this is *your* office phone.
    1. If this is NOT *your* office phone, DO NOT select this option.
  1. Verify Alternate authentication phone.
    1. This is a backup phone number if you cannot be reached at the Authentication Phone number.
  1. Verify Authenticator app or Token.

 

Configure Microsoft Authenticator

  1. Click the Delete button next to your Authenticator App smart phone

 

  1. Click the Setup Authenticator app button

 

  1. On the Microsoft Authenticator app, clickAdd Accounts” and then “Work or School account”.

 

  1. The app will ask for permission to use your camera, clickAllow”. Then you simply need to scan the QR code on your computer screen and you are done!

 

  1. Click Next.

 

  1. Click Save.

 

  1. Close Browser Tab to return to the Multi Factor Authentication Request browser tab.

 

  1. Close the Multi Factor Authentication Request browser tab.
