Can't Edit A Rubric in D2L Brightspace

Why can't I edit my Rubric in D2L Brightspace? | Why is my Rubric locked?

When a Rubric is associated to an Assignment submission folder or a Discussions topic and has been used to evaluate a thread or submission, it will become locked. This means you cannot edit the Rubric.

 

To solve this issue you copy the rubric, edit it, and then associated the edited Rubric to the Assignments folder or Discussion topic:

 

  1. Click on Rubrics under the Assessments drop-down menu.
  2. Click on the drop-down arrow next to the rubric you want to edit that is giving you problems.
  3. Click Copy.
  4. Click on Copy of [name of previous rubric]. Note: If you are prompted to switch to the New Rubric Experience, click yes.
  5. Edit the portion of the rubric you would like to change.
  6. The Rubric will Auto-Save in the New Rubric Experience.

Assignments:

  1. Click Assignments under the Assessments drop-down menu.
  2. Click on the drop-down arrow next to the name of the Assignment you want to tie the rubric to.
  3. Click Edit Submission Folder.
  4. Click the Add Rubric button under the Rubrics heading.
  5. Check the box next to the newly edited rubric.
  6. Click the Add Selected button.
  7. Click the Save and Close button.

Discussions:

  1. Click Discussions under the Communication drop-down menu.
  2. Click on the drop-down arrow next to the name of the Discussion topic you want to tie the rubric to.
  3. Click Edit Topic.
  4. Click the Assessment tab.
  5. Click Add Rubric button under the Rubrics heading.
  6. Check the box next to the newly edited rubric.
  7. Click the Add Selected button.
  8. Click the Save and Close button.
