 Hello everyone! My name is Lelti Asgedom. I love helping people out and that’s exactly what I am here for in my role as a Maverick Global Ambassador. I will be an active resource for you by answering questions and help you get acquainted with Minnesota State Mankato and the Mankato area. Please feel free to reach out to me if you need guidance, peer-support, resources and advice before and after you arrive at MNSU-Mankato. 

Major and Year:

I am majoring in Biochemistry and I am a junior.

Why did you choose this major:  

Because it is part of a pre-med program and I’m interested in pursuing medical school after getting my bachelor’s degree.


I am from Ethiopia.

Favorite Thing About your Home Country:

The food and culture are the things I love most.

Why did you choose MNSU:

Because of it’s diversity, it looked very welcoming.

Favorite Memory at MNSU so far:

My first haunted house experience on Halloween. 

Favorite Signature Night and Why:

African night because it is so electric, and they have great performances. 

Favorite American Food:


Favorite Activity to do in the Mankato Area:

Go to a variety of parks with my friends.

Campus Involvement:

I was Public Relations officer for the ISA (International Student Association) last year.

Advice for Prospective Students:

Even though you might get a bit frazzled at the start, just remember it will always get better. 

Future Career Plans:

Hopefully a doctor.
