International First-year Students

First-year Student Requirements

  • Must provide proof of completion of secondary education (generally 12 years).
  • Cumulative academic results must be equivalent to or greater than U.S. 2.0 GPA grading system. 
  • Meet one of the minimum standards for English Proficiency
    • TOEFL iBT 61 or PBT 500
    • IELTS 5.5

Country and Program Specific Requirements

International Baccalaureate (IB)

First-year applicants will be admitted if they graduated with scores that average between 3 and 7. For specifics on International Baccalaureate (IB) course equivalencies at Minnesota State Mankato, please visit our transfer guide

Cambridge International

First-year applicants will be admitted if they graduated with a C grade or higher in five (5) or more individual subject areas between any combination of A and O level courses. 

Indian Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE)

First-year applicants will be admitted if they graduated with any scores ranging from C1 to A1. 

Indian Council for Indian School Certificate (CISCE)

First-year applicants will be admitted if they graduated with any scores from 6 to 1.

Chinese National Curriculum

First-year applicants will be admitted if they graduated with any overall grade between 60% and 100%.

French Baccalaureate

First-year applicants will be admitted if they graduated with any score of 10 to 20. 

Nepali Board of Education

First-year applicants will be admitted if they graduated with any overall grade of 2.0 or higher. If the applicant graduated prior to 2017, applicants with overall grade of 2nd division or higher will be admitted.
