March 17: Kearney Center Begins Virtual Immigration Advising

The Kearney Center will be closed starting March 17. To continue serving our international students to the best of our ability, the Kearney Center will have virtual immigration advising starting March 17 from 8AM-5PM CST.

The Kearney Center for International Student Services is taking as many precautionary measures as possible to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

The Kearney Center will be closed starting March 17. Starting March 17, the Kearney Center will be conducting all immigration advising through virtual channels. An advisor will be available to meet students Monday through Friday between 8AM and 5PM CST.

International students should watch for an email with more specific information from their immigration advisors on specific reporting measures and steps they need to take to stay in F-1 status during this time.

COVID-19 TESTING AND YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE

  • If you suspect you have been exposed to COVID-19, you should call UHCSR or visit www.uhcsr.com/MyAccount or use their UHCSR mobile app to find a network provider.
  • Even though the International Student Health Insurance policy doesn’t charge a fee for referral, it may be helpful to know you can get tested & treated anywhere for the COVID-19 Coronavirus without a referral.
  • COVID-19 testing is covered and all member cost sharing will be waived, including copays, coinsurance & deductibles, for COVID-19 diagnostic testing provided at approved locations in accordance with CDC guidelines.

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT FOR MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO STUDENTS

United Healthcare is offering an EMOTIONAL SUPPORT HELP LINE FOR ALL STUDENTS through one of their subsidiary companies called Optum.  Their toll-free help line number, 866-342-6892, will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for as long as necessary and the service is free of charge and open to any student, not just international students.  Students would have access to specially trained mental health specialists to support them if they feel they are experiencing anxiety or stress related to the recent developments around COVID-19.
